CHAPTER 3 🍪 Cookies

3.1 - WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small files consisting of letters and numbers that will be stored on a user's computer, mobile terminal, or other equipment used to access the internet.

The cookie is installed via a request issued by a web server to a browser (Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and is completely “passive” (it does not contain software programs, viruses, or spyware, and cannot access information on the user's hard drive).

3.2 - WHAT ARE COOKIES USED FOR?

These files make it possible to recognize the user's terminal and present content in a relevant way, adapted to the user's preferences. Cookies provide users with an enjoyable browsing experience. They are also used to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that help us understand how users benefit from our web pages, allowing us to improve their structure and content while excluding the user's personal identification.

3.3 - USE OF COOKIES

There are two types of Cookies: per session and fixed. Per session cookies are temporary files that remain on the user's terminal until the session ends or the application (web browser) is closed. Fixed cookies remain on the user's terminal for a period defined by the Cookie's parameters or until they are manually deleted by the user through the browser settings (Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari, etc.).

3.4 - DO COOKIES CONTAIN PERSONAL DATA?

Cookies themselves do not request or store personal information to be used, and they do not personally identify internet users. Personal data collected through the use of Cookies can only be gathered to facilitate certain functionalities for the user. This data is encrypted in a way that makes unauthorized access impossible.

3.5 - COOKIE OPTIONS

In general, a browser used to access web pages allows Cookies to be saved on the terminal by default.

These settings can be changed so that the automatic management of Cookies is blocked by the web browser, or the user is informed every time Cookies are sent to their terminal. Detailed information about the options and ways to manage Cookies can be found in the settings menu of the application (web browser).

3.6 - THE IMPORTANCE OF COOKIES FOR THE INTERNET

Cookies represent the central point of the efficient functioning of the Internet, helping to generate a friendly browsing experience adapted to the preferences and interests of each user.
